One suggestion to uninstall and re-install Chrome did not work either, but led to me discovering what did work, for me: Control Panel > All Control Panel Items > Default Programs Better Solution 1: If your issue is that certain sites require IE (eg Windows Update), then a much easier option would be to install an extension like IE Tab.
