You may have missed some steps, example, deleting the sent items file, restarting outlook, etc. It created a new "Sent Items (1).dbx" file. If I'm not mistaken, a new fresh file will be created. What I did is, open the email which is stuck in the outbox and click on send once again and then do send/receive.
