December 26, 2008 MisterM Hi guys, Using the above mentioned method with perfect disk i successfully got shrink volume extended from 600MB to 66GB. It did work but did not want to go below 250 GB while I wanted to give it 20GB. Otherwise, what should I do?
Rather than use one of the tools that can move the MFT I stumbled upon another method that worked for me. gparted eventually came up. I have a notebook dual booting WinXP and Vista. I went from hardly anything to the space I needed!

Is there anything to do with this, I had lot of important stuff on that partition .... ? If you want to expand the volume to the size it was after shrinking it just select extend instead of shrink in Disk Management.

the best solution, i found that worked was to use perfectdisk 10 with the option consolidate free disk space. Thanks for this guide. In your case, since you just reducing the size of the partition, generally it would not cause data lost, but if you encountered the boot problem, please tell us the detailed So I am too afraid to use the software to creat again.
