With the value set to 1, deleted data is removed when you close Outlook. Now, you can open outlook using the fixed PST file. To do this, right-click on the top-level of the data file and choose Properties, then click the Advanced button and Compact Now. When there is serious damaged or corruption in PST file then it is better to opt for third party tool. Remember though, when you delete an item in Outlook it is simply moved to the Deleted Items folder - which doesn't actually free the space until you empty it. please please help me with that.. How can I use the scanpst utility if there is no pst file to repair? If the file cannot be fixed you can still recover individual emails and export them. So many sites on the net about this problem, but no help at all.
