The alternative is to try to solve the problem by locating the specific process that is hogging the CPU or thrashing the hard drive. DiskMon in particular will show you any files that are being sought by any process, an incredibly valuable resource.
So just what is going on? No run option is given! I swear I did this before shortly after upgrading to Windows 10, but it looks like a recent Windows Update enabled this once again, causing my Disk usage to get pegged I'll try reading the suggestions in the other thread and trying those and seeing if it helps at all.
I've been trying to figure out why and the main thing I've noticed is that whenever it happens, my hard disk usage spikes up to 100%. C: Partition is used for Windows, Programs, Documents etc. There is no one offending, obvious process. If you can identify and locate the problem, you can disable the related programs or uninstall them.
