actually this all started when I was using that recovery thing and it was restoring the pc to the factory settings and reformatting vista while saving my data in a seperate If you do not create a partition now the XP install will do so automatically, but it's easier and cleaner to do it this way. In the BIOS I have the CD Rom drive as 1 and 2 (hard disk as 3rd), but STILL the computer won't boot from the dvd. Then you'll need to format and reinstall XP. @cocoabo: I have no proof or evidence to suggest this, but I think if you just format L: you'll be fine. navigate to this website

all i seem to get is the dreaded bootmgr missing, i have tried putting in vista discs and xp discs but for some reason, it is not picking up the disks, I installed XP on the primary first and then Vista RC2 afterwards on the secondary. so if any one can help me with out usin the dvd for vista would help alot.. It's available for Windows 8, Windows 7 and Windows Vista.
